Prime Minister Harper,
The increase in gas prices over the past few months has put a tremendous burden
on me and my fellow Canadians. I believe that you and other members of our Federal
Government have the ability to help control the price of gasoline. There are two
areas that I believe you can help control, one is the amount of tax applied (Fuel Tax and GST)
to fuel, and secondly, the government has the ability to ensure that
Canadians are not being abused by oil & gas companies.
I urge you Prime Minister Harper to look closely at the price of gasoline, as this
concern is affecting so many Canadians in numerous ways. Even if the federal government were
to reduce the gasoline tax by 40%, we as Canadians would realize a cost savings that
would be measurable. No reduction is to small, every penny makes a difference to us.
Many of us already spend hundreds of dollars per month on fuel, reducing the current prices would
help ensure that the cost of fuel is not affecting our ability to function daily
(commuting to work, etc.) and possibly affecting the basic needs of Canadians.
